Villa Jovis

Villa Jovis, or Villa di Giove, is located on the top of Mount Tiberio, in the eastern part of the island of Capri.

From here the emperor Tiberius Claudius Nerone governed the empire for over eleven years.During his stay on the island of Capri, despite its precarious state of health, Tiberius ordered the construction of another eleven buildings around it.

In the summer season he moved to the coast, among the buildings now known as “Tiberio baths” or “palazzo a mare”, where the emperor loved to bathe.
