Punta Carena Lighthouse

Among the many wonders that Capri contains, there is a place, however, which is particularly dear to the people of Capri: the Lighthouse of Punta Carena.

Named for the resemblance to the hull of a ship, it is located at the end of the island, precisely in the municipality of Anacapri and is considered by vacationers to be one of the most enchanting places. The lighthouse of Capri, is the second largest in Italy for power and lighting, after that of Genoa.

Its construction began in 1862, during the Bourbon kingdom of the two Sicilies and was lit for the first time in 1876. It consists of an octagonal tower in masonry with lantern and gallery, located on a two-story building for the farista. Repainted recently, now it is white with red vertical stripes.
