Hill of Castiglione

The caprese called it “the Countess”.

Edda Ciano, the eldest daughter of Benito Mussolini began to frequent the island since the ’30s, young bride of the then Foreign Minister, Galeazzo.

He landed on the island, to spend the first wedding night at the Quisisana and later to live on the hill of Castiglione, in their love nest: Villa Ciano, the white building overlooking the bay of Marina Piccola.

In particular to mark the following years was the sentimental liason with Pietro Capuano, or rather Chantecler the dandy jeweler, who was born after the countess, while confined to Lipari.
